Provides the most information about safety and road skills.  Students will be required to complete the online MSF Basic eCourse.  The online course includes topics on selecting proper riding gear, defensive riding strategies and how to handle a variety of riding situations.  The five (5) hours of classroom will help reinforce topics learned during the eCourse and will help students provide their own Rider Self-Assessment.  In addition, the student will discuss various topics including: situational awareness, risk reduction, traffic “traps”, driving tendencies, perception, visual acuity and reaction time.  During the course a student will learn the “SEE” principle which will be helpful when identifying traffic controls / roadway features, highway users, surface conditions and escape paths.  The ten (10) hours of riding includes motorcycle familiarization, friction zone, clutch-throttle control, starting, stopping, turning, shifting, swerving and basic crash avoidance.
